23andMe is looking for a driven, self-directed Software Engineer to join our genetic pipelines and storage engineering team. We are responsible for designing, building, and managing large scale services at 23andMe that serve both external customers and internal consumers. We support backend services that are critical to a customer's experience on the website, build libraries in support of internal research, power machine learning and model development. We are passionate about building services that are performant, scalable, reliable, and secure. 23andMe has one of the largest databases of genetic data and the challenges we deal with and solve are unique. You will work within a collaborative environment of small fast-paced development teams that have a mix of veteran engineers and recent graduates. What You'll Do

• Design, develop and maintain reliable scalable services and data stores to solve complex and large scale data engineering challenges at 23andMe
• Build and rely on CI/CD methods and automatic testing to ensure reliable code, continuously delivered
• Drive technical excellence through code and design reviews
• Collaborate with other engineering teams, product managers, and security teams to deliver on strategic projects

What You’ll Bring

• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent education plus 2 years of experience
• Expertise building libraries and services in Python, ideally in AWS
• Hands-on experience working with CI/CD deployment pipelines, Docker containers, and testing frameworks
• A team player attitude with comfortability operating in a highly collaborative environment
• Passion for systems engineering

Pay Transparency

23andMe takes a market-based approach to pay, and amounts will vary depending on your geographic location. The salary range reflected here is for a candidate based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

San Francisco Bay Area Base Pay Range

$142,400—$213,600 USD
