Sr. Data Scientist

SUMMARY OF POSITION CMRU has an immediate opening for a Statistics and Data Scientist to be part of a global team supporting medical physics and image quality performance investigations. The qualified candidate will be responsible for applying statistics and data science to a) support validation, benchmarking, and optimization of products, b) help successfully clear products and product claims through FDA and other regulatory bodies, and c) aid clinical research at Canon luminary sites.RESPONSIBILITIES• Support equivalence, non-inferiority, and superiority studies• Help form pass/fail criteria based on analysis of prior data/literature/statistical methods• Create easily understood visualizations of complex datasets• Perform predictive modeling• Perform psychometric fitting for observer studies• Help guide experimental design, including power analysis• Explain statistics and data science methods/results in clear terms• Support image quality assurance and validation programs• Develop data science-based solutions to new technical needs identified by luminary sites and R&D• Support Canon’s work with national and international organizations, such as ACR, FDA, IEC, AAPM, and MITA, on statistical and data science matters• Periodically facilitate collaboration between luminary researchers• Submit weekly progress notes and quarterly reports.• Present talks regarding Canon imaging technology and related research and development.• Write company internal and peer-reviewed scientific publications.QUALIFICATIONSEducation• M.S. in Statistics and Data Science or the equivalent area of specialization to include Data Science and Machine Learning coursework.Experience• Strong foundation in statistics, preferably bio-stats.• Project work experience or thesis project experience.• Proficiency with R, MATLAB and/or Python.• Background in image/data science including deep learning preferred.• Background in model observer or human observers preferred.• Data Visualization preferred.Key Competencies• Reading, analyzing, and interpreting common scientific and technical journals in English.• Proven ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or regulatory agencies.• Writing presentations and articles for publications that conform to prescribed style and format both for technical review and in layman’s terms.• Presenting information effectively to a variety of people, including senior management, groups, and/or board of directors.• Translating complex ideas into easy-to-understand explanations.Time and Location Commitment• The position is a regular, full-time one that requires a commitment of 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, during regular business hours.• This position includes a flexible work arrangement in which the qualified candidate can work remotely from anywhere in the United States on a regular and recurring basis if they are willing and available to occasionally travel to the main office(s) to work in-person with the team.Travel• Ability to complete domestic and international travel up to 10% of time.COMPANY DESCRIPTIONwww.research.us.medical.canonCanon Medical Research USA, Inc.
