Accessibility Human Factors Engineering / User Interaction Design & Research
The User Experience (UX) Group in San Diego has an opening for UI/UX researcher/designer for Sony’s accessibility features. We are looking for a candidate who has deep understanding and knowledge or has worked on accessibility who is capable to review/evaluate Sony product to make our products more accessible.
It is required that candidate has also studied or is currently studying cognitive science, HCI or related field and understands conducting user centered design & research.
The ideal candidate already has extensive experience in research with users with impairment, designing products with accessibility in mind, inclusive design, but not required.
Responsibilities:
Support planning and conducting usability studies to evaluate new and existing products, and making constructive suggestions for change to make our products more accessible Conduct benchmarking studies of competitor products from accessibility point of view Evaluate Sony products to make our products more accessible Generate new ideas or recommendation to fix the problem from the finding Analyze accessibility related regulation and make sure we comply Create awareness within Sony globally related to accessibility including creating training materials, planning for promotion and trade show support
Requirements:
  • Understanding of how to make product accessible for vision or hearing impairment
  • Basic understanding of human factor engineering, user centered design and research method
Desired Skills:
  • ability to focus on the customer’s needs
  • knowledge of basic interaction design/user-centered design principles
  • familiarity with UI industry standards for interface design and user testing methodologies
  • working knowledge of documentation tool for specification documents
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • good organization skills
  • ability to collaborate and work as a team
  • understanding for multi cultures
  • ability to trouble shoot technical problem
  • full understanding of Accessibility related regulations
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $77,000.00 to 101,000.00. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for a bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare benefits (medical, dental, and vision), paid medical leave after three months of employment, a 401k plan with matching company contributions, vacation time, education assistance, student loan assistance program, eighty hours of paid sick leave time annually, and up to twelve weeks paid parental leave after six months of employment.
