Accounting Manager

Job Title: Accounting Manager

Job Summary:

This position works hand-in-hand with business and sales operations when it comes to sales contract structuring and the ultimate evaluation of complex revenue contracts for revenue recognition under ASC 606. The role will also be assisting the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting process and working with external auditors, including preparation of financial statements & disclosures, and drafting of technical memos.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical accounting resource for ad hoc questions and initiatives.
  • Assist the accounting team members to review contracts and agreements, research relevant accounting matters, and recommend accounting and disclosure requirements for complex non-routine transactions, including but not limited to, revenue recognition, equity, leasing, income tax, capitalized software, and fixed assets.
  • Assist with monthly close activities, including accounting for stock-based compensation expense, revenue recognition, leases, and other ad-hoc transactions.
  • Prepare or update technical accounting memorandums for significant transactions and support the review process with external auditors.
  • Understand and provide interpretation of new accounting pronouncements in order to assist management in evaluating financial and operational impact.
  • Support the Financial Reporting process to ensure proper implementation of new accounting pronouncements.
  • Assist in the preparation of US GAAP financial statements, disclosures, including statement of cash flows, and the equity rollforward.
  • Proactively identify issues and areas for improvement while helping to establish and maintain policies and procedures . Support various accounting teams with the drafting and review of any new accounting policies or updating existing polices.
  • Lead new projects to instill, streamline and automate processes

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Required Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:

  • Expert in completing month-end close activities for multiple subsidiaries including consolidation and financial reporting package responsibilities
  • Able to independently handle grind and extended hours for the next few months, and occasionally work across multiple global time zones in collaboration with overseas team members
  • Experienced in three or more of the following tools: NetSuite, Avalara, Concur, bill.com, Salesforce, Carta, Google Workspace
  • Humble and hungry with an entrepreneurial mindset to grow and get things done
  • Demonstrated roll-up sleeves attitude and work with team members in a hands-on capacity in a fast-paced start-up environment where change is constant
  • Restless in achieving accuracy and precision; highly organized
  • Able to think creatively, highly driven, and self-motivated
  • Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Legally authorized for employment in the United States without current or future need for employer-sponsored work authorization
  • CPA or qualified to sit for the CPA exam
  • Experience in Manufacturing / AI / Tech industry is a plus
  • Subscription (SaaS) and manufacturing accounting and ASC 606 mastery is a plus
  • Sleuth in conducting technical accounting research

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience, with a combination of Big 4 public accounting and public company industry experience, preferred.
