The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for managing and leading all aspects of the payables function for the entire organization and involves the supervision of the Accounts Payable team.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to engage with departments across our organization and be the main contact for vendor inquiries. You will be heading a fast-paced department, crucial to the success of our business by ensuring our vendors are paid on time and accurately. The Accounts Payable Manager's responsibility is to ensure the complete and accurate recording of payable transactions and ensure high-quality data through performing timely reconciliations and recordkeeping. This temporary position is for an 18-month contract.

Responsibilities

    • Daily management of full cycle Accounts Payable department, including but not limited to vendor setup/maintenance, review and archiving of vendor invoices and employee reimbursements, vendor communication, maintenance of the accounts payable subledger and weekly ACH/check runs.
    • Responsible for accounts payable processes that support adherence to policies, guidelines, and internal controls.
    • Establish and monitor performance and reporting metrics for the accounts payable cycle.
    • Manage month-end closing of AP function, including preparing month end accruals, account reconciliations and ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Support the corporate accounting team in the maintenance of cashflow forecasting model by providing a weekly forecast of vendor payments.
    • Oversee and manage travel & expense reimbursements and corporate credit card processes and policies.
    • Assist with the coordination and gathering of documents to support auditor’s requests.
    • Collaborate with the other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
    • Support Accounts Payable and expense-related requests as needs arise, including ad-hoc analysis and special projects.
    • Ability to develop, implement and maintain systems, procedures and policies aimed at best practices

Skills and Experience

    • Degree or Diploma in Accounting (or equivalent) preferred
    • Minimum 3 years previous AP experience with at least 1 years supervising a team
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word & Excel)
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to deal with external vendors, employees and various levels of management in a professional and effective manner. High level of customer service required.
    • Basic GST/HST and VAT knowledge required
    • Knowledge of the full accounting cycle
    • Experience with Netsuite is an asset
    • Experience with SAP Concur Expense is an asset.
    • Experience with American Express @Work is an asset
    • Experience working with international companies a plus.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organization and analytical skills
    • A team player who works well with colleagues and contributes to a positive working environment
