Actuarial Analyst

This position will perform the traditional responsibilities of the actuarial department including pricing, reserving, predictive modeling, management reporting, and other special projects as needed. Duties and responsibilities will require strong analytic skills and the ability to effectively communicate facts and information to others.

The essential responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform rate level indications for larger states.
  • Prepare supporting actuarial exhibits for rate filings.
  • Maintain pricing models for loss sensitive business.
  • Assist in the preparation of loss reserve studies.
  • Prepare accrual indications for policyholder dividends and retrospective premiums.
  • Prepare regular monitoring reports on pricing and claim trends.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of predictive pricing models.
  • Manage actuarial databases.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees to both gather and share information.
  • Perform special projects as needed.
  • Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Responds positively to direction and feedback on performance.
  • Consistently maintain professional and appropriate demeanor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Skills, and Requirements

  • High School Diploma Or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or comparable discipline required.
  • 3 exams from the Casualty Actuarial Society* (It is expected that incumbent continue to work toward and ultimately obtain Fellowship).
  • 2 years of Property & Casualty pricing and reserving experience preferred.
  • Must have strong spreadsheet and database software skills.
  • Prior experience with statistical software preferred.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.

The expected salary range for this position is $95,268.19 - $105,853.55. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level.
