Supplier Quality Associate Engineer (Proterra Powered - Battery)

About the Role – You will:

  • Plant Based Supplier Quality Resource supporting production of world class batteries.
  • Manage escaping defects from vendors via the Non-Conformance process. This includes writing Non-Conformances and working directly with vendors to drive Root Cause and Corrective Actions.
  • Manage Supplier Deviation Requests (SDR’s) by assisting in the controlled release of deviated parts from MRB and providing production awareness to the deviations.
  • Manage the containment, inspection, and escalation of quality spills from Suppliers. Update production on the status of Corrective Actions.
  • Host Suppliers coming on site to perform reworks and coordinate space to execute those reworks.
  • Represent the Supplier Quality team during daily Material Review Board (MRB) reviews and daily GEMBA walks.
  • Manage material being sent offsite to suppliers for rework or replacement.
  • Place Purchase Order requests for sub-component parts that are damaged during production or material handling.
  • Collaborate with inspectors on the priority of inspection regarding incoming development material, containment inspections, and sampling plans.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement and development of processes for the newly launch battery manufacturing facility.

About You:

  • Self-starter with the ability to adapt interpersonal styles and techniques to influence at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, establish trust and credibility, and act with complete integrity.
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful and diligent.
  • Strong time management, organizational and presentation skills.
  • Sound judgment, good leadership, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent English communication skills with a professional approach to understand and resolve technical and non-technical issues with suppliers.

Your Experience Includes:

  • Internships or Projects within quality, manufacturing, or supplier quality engineering.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), ISO and TS standards
  • Experience in working with battery-related components.
  • Broad range of tooling, manufacturing process and workmanship standards experience across castings, printed circuit boards and other complex assemblies.
  • Experience or education with best-in-class manufacturing practices (Lean Manufacturing, visual management, data collection, material utilization, employee engagement, cross-training, standard work, gage R&R, calibration, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and SPC software (i.e. Minitab)
