Mercy College (NY) invites applications for adjunct teaching positions in the Critical Inquiry program to begin Fall 2023. The first-year Critical Inquiry course incorporates general education skills in reading fluency, critical thinking, and information literacy.
Applicants may also be considered to instruct the Junior Seminar capstone course, which assesses additional competencies in writing and oral communication. Ideal candidates demonstrate experience in teaching first-generation college students of diverse backgrounds and have interest in promoting the values of General Education in an undergraduate curriculum. Candidates experienced with Blackboard, ePortfolio, assessment of learning outcomes, multi-disciplinary and high-impact teaching practices are strongly preferred. The Critical Inquiry program is part of the Department of Humanities in the School of Liberal Arts, committed to fostering a culturally diverse and inclusive intellectual community. Staffing needs are primarily at the Dobbs Ferry campus; slight chance of needs at the Bronx and Manhattan campuses. An M.A., MFA, PhD, or relevant terminal degree in a Liberal Arts discipline is expected by appointment date.
