The Department of Community Health in the School of Arts and Sciences is relatively young, although the popular and innovative undergraduate program has been in existence for more than four decades. The Department includes both tenure-stream and non-tenure-stream faculty and offers a BA degree in Community Health. The faculty in the Department of Community Health are conducting research to understand the barriers and facilitators to health equity across the life span of individuals and communities. Research on how racism and other forms of discrimination affect population health and on how broad-based solutions can improve the health and well-being of marginalized individuals, groups, and communities are priority areas. The department seeks talented and energetic applicants who wish to join a growing department.
The Department of Community Health embraces diversity and inclusion across multiple dimensions, such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, and socioeconomic status. The department has established strong partnerships within the School of Arts and Sciences and School of Engineering, as well as collaborations with the Tufts University School of Medicine and Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy. We also have strong partnerships with many of the major Boston teaching hospitals, community health centers, and community-based organizations.
