Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is seeking a highly motivated and driven individual to join our organization as an Administrative Fellow. This one-year fellowship program provides a unique opportunity to work closely with senior leaders, gain hands-on experience in healthcare administration, and contribute to large-scale hospital-wide projects. The Administrative Fellow will actively participate in strategic initiatives and engage in shadowing opportunities with executives to develop a well-rounded understanding of healthcare leadership. This role if full-time and is hybrid with approximately 2-3 days in the office.
Some benefits of being our administrative fellow include exposure to executive-level decision-making and strategic planning and participation in leadership development activities, such as workshops and seminars. The administrative fellow also has access to the senior leaders who provide mentorship, and support and guidance throughout the fellowship. The fellow is involved in multiple large-scale institute-wide projects and can gain practical experience in project management and implementation firsthand. Dana-Farber and its affiliate institutes have a vast network of healthcare professionals and plenty of opportunity for professional growth and development for a fellow.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with senior leaders to support and contribute to hospital-wide projects and initiatives that align with Dana-Farber's mission and strategic priorities
Engage in cross-functional teams and assist in the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and patient care
Conduct research, perform data analysis, and prepare reports to support decision-making and project planning
Participate in meetings with executive leaders, shadowing their daily activities and gaining insights into leadership strategies and decision-making processes
Actively contribute to discussions on organizational strategy, policy development, and improvement initiatives
Work closely with staff, physicians, and other stakeholders to understand their needs, address concerns, and provide support as required
Qualifications
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in a related field; a Master's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field is required
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate complex situations and propose effective solutions
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Previous experience in a healthcare setting or knowledge of healthcare operations is preferred
