As part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s responsibility to maintain a safe, secure, and effective nuclear deterrent, Advanced Automation Corporation (AAC) is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator. The successful candidate will provide accurate cost and schedule estimates for construction projects related to infrastructure, facility development, and nuclear production. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimation, project management, scheduling, and cost control, particularly within government and energy-related projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation of detailed cost estimates for construction projects, varying from class 5 to class 1 estimates
- Development of a project schedule to the same level of fidelity as the cost estimate class
- Working closely with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing for materials, labor, and equipment
- Identification of potential cost risks and development of mitigation strategies to avoid budget overruns
- Preparation of a basis of estimate to document all assumptions for a given estimate
- Reviewing engineer work products, such as man-hour estimates, scopes of work, bill of materials, and designs
Salary Range: $65 - $75 / hour
This position is remote and can be performed from anywhere within the continental United States.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in construction estimation, preferably within the energy or government sector
- Proficiency estimating small projects (less than $5 million) to major capital projects ($50 million or more)
- Proficiency in estimation software such as RSMeans, Sage Estimating, or similar tools
- Proficiency in scheduling software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar tools
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- US citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
- Available to travel up to 10% of the time
Desired Skills:
- 10+ years of prior related work experience
- Program/Project Management experience
- Experience estimating DOE and DOD-specific projects
- Familiarity with DOE O 413.3B guidelines
