Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an Engineering Manager (Water Design-Build) located anywhere in the United States. You will have a lead role in employing the latest technologies to solve critical water supply, treatment, and infrastructure projects such as water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and conveyance systems throughout the United States.  This is an opportunity to work on some of our nation’s most pressing water infrastructure problems and contributing to AECOM’s success as an industry leader in engineering and construction. 

Frequent short-term travel up to 50% of the time may be required depending on project workload.

Job Responsibilities:

The Engineering Manager (Water Design-Build) will be charged with responsibility to actively lead, manage, and direct the performance of ongoing Design-Build water and wastewater projects in addition to developing and capturing upcoming design-build pursuits.

You’ll need to be capable of performing both conceptual and detailed engineering and construction engineering project management activities.​

Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the activities of a multi-discipline design through AECOM’s design centers
  • Project management for procurement of process equipment and subcontractors, scheduling, VE or constructability reviews,
  • Familiarity with job cost reporting, and budget control activities through the life of projects, including EAC analysis.
  • Demonstration of strong commercial and construction contract experience

Fiscal Experience – Proven project management skills to delivery projects at or under budget and on schedule.  Working knowledge of job accounting and reporting methods such as earned value and estimates to complete.

Team Oriented – This position requires the skill set to directly oversee and manage detailed engineering and construction teams working collaboratively together to deliver the project.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in, Civil, Environmental, Sanitary, Chemical Engineering or related field and 10+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 20+ years’ experience in delivering engineering and construction projects in the water/wastewater industry delivered using progressive design-build, lump sum design-build, or CMAR project delivery methods
  • Good understanding of project delivery and ability to facilitate technical discussions when needed
  • Proven project management experience with ability to manage a diverse team
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate, influence and manage risk
  • Demonstration of strong commercial and construction contract experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Travel to other offices/sites will be required
  • Experience managing D/B projects that are $30 Million or more
  • A DBIA certificate is preferred but not required
  • California P.E. license preferred
  • Experience in working with local and state regulatory agencies
  • Experience in managing both engineering and construction subcontractors
  • Proven ability to conduct competitive assessments and price to win analysis.
