Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Engineering Co-Op/Intern to be based in Mechanicsburg, PA.

This position is expected to begin August/September 2025.

Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in engineering, design, and infrastructure projects that make a real-world impact. Interns work with cutting-edge technology, learn industry best practices, and collaborate with experienced professionals in a globally recognized firm. The program fosters both technical and professional skill development while providing networking opportunities that can enhance future career prospects. Additionally, AECOM’s dedication to innovation and sustainability enables interns to contribute to meaningful projects that help shape communities and the built environment.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.
  • Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.
  • Perform assignments related to the design, analysis, rehabilitation, and inspection of highway bridges and ancillary structures.
  • Enthusiastic individuals eager to face new challenges and take on personal responsibilities are best qualified to meet the demands of this work. An intern is expected to be able to apply technical training to perform basic calculations, work well in a team setting, and be willing to work diligently to learn new skills.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or other related field and must have completed at least two years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for the position. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time and deadlines, keep track of steps, and prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, InRoads, & OpenRoads).

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
  • Relocation assistance is not available.
  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in Mechanicsburg, PA.  The selected candidate must be available to work in Mechanicsburg, PA on a scheduled basis.
