Manufacturing Quality Engineer

Aescape is looking for a Manufacturing Quality Engineer with a genuine passion for quality and an eye for detail to join our team. This role involves collaborating with the Lead Manufacturing Quality Engineer to establish quality procedures and standards for all contract manufacturers and suppliers. You will ensure that our manufacturing processes, components, and assemblies meet our stringent quality standards and that all quality requirements are thoroughly documented. By working closely with our cross-functional global teams, you will drive continuous improvement in product quality. This is a pivotal role at a key moment in Aescape’s journey, and we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about their work and our mission to transform the massage therapy industry!

This role is based out in NYC

Aescape is the NY-based lifestyle robotics company redefining self-care.

We announced the world's first commercially available, fully automated AI-powered massage experience with Equinox in March — and this is only the beginning. We are in a period of rapid growth, launching our category-transforming product throughout 2024 with global leaders in hospitality, wellness, sports and fitness.

Backed by $85M in funding from investors like Valor Equity Partners (an early investor in Tesla and SpaceX), we've assembled a team of top talent across connected hardware and fitness from industry giants like Amazon, Apple, Peloton, Tonal, Uber, The New York Knicks, and more to bring people and robotics together for better living.

In less than 48 hours since announcing our launch and partnership, publications like WIRED, Fast Company, Popular Science, Sports Business Journal, Fortune and Now This News have covered our news, with remarkable enthusiasm.

What You’ll Do

As a Manufacturing Quality Engineer at Aescape you will:

  • Develop and implement quality control procedures together with our contract manufacturers and suppliers.

  • Conducting supplier quality audits and developing supplier quality improvement plans.

  • Monitoring supplier metrics, proactively mitigating risks and preventing defects and failures in the final product.

  • Review and provide input to ensure the manufacturability and quality of Aescape products, including input on installation and service procedures.

  • Collaborate with suppliers to gather feedback on achievable quality limits and update quality criteria accordingly.

  • Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and other quality control tools to monitor and improve product quality.

  • Analyze data and implement corrective actions to continuously improve the quality of delivered products.

  • Assist in training and mentoring supplier quality control staff on QC requirements.

  • Manage the documentation, resolution, and closure of quality issues using Jira. This includes having regular supplier meetings to address quality issues.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve design and manufacturing issues, ensuring alignment on drawings and specifications.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.

  • Identify and proactively address quality risks, ensuring compliance with relevant industry and regulatory standards, including FDA and ISO 13485.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in quality engineering, preferably with safety critical products like medical devices, automotive, or other products where manufacturing processes are critical to safety.

  • Strong knowledge of quality control principles, methodologies and tools.

  • Experience in new product introduction within a lean manufacturing or quality team.

  • Experience with plastics molding, metal fabrication, welding, and mechanical assembly.

  • Knowledge of quality systems and methodologies such as ISO 9001, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing.

  • Experience working with suppliers in APAC.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Additional Requirements
