This individual will support the servicing and underwriting lifecycle for BNPL loans, including underwriting, fair lending, servicing, and collections. The best candidate will be flexible enough to engage in a wide range of projects and matters in support of Affirm’s strategic objectives. If you are an individual with humility, grit, and flexibility, this is the job for you!Come join us in our mission to change consumer finance through offering honest financial products that improve lives!What You’ll Do• Counsel Affirm’s Business teams and other cross-functional stakeholders on relevant federal and state consumer financial services laws and regulations affecting new and existing products and services, including the Truth in Lending Act; the Electronic Fund Transfer Act; The Equal Credit Opportunity Act; the Fair Credit Reporting Act; the Bank Secrecy and Anti-Money Laundering Act; laws prohibiting unfair, deceptive and abusive acts and practices; and related regulatory guidance and enforcement actions• Support Affirm’s origination and servicing of BNPL products• Provide strategic advice regarding state and federal lending, consumer finance and protection laws• Monitor legal and regulatory developments in consumer lending and servicing• Be a trusted advisor and teammate, sharing legal and other expertise and support when needed• Identify and evaluate business and legal risks and act as a trusted partner for creative legal problem-solving• Draft terms and conditions, disclosures, review copy• Create and solve initiatives related to new and existing Affirm products to ensure business partners are supportedWhat We Look For• Ideal candidate will have 6+ years of related business, government, or fintech experience, preferably with a focus on BNPL or Consumer Payments• JD from a highly-reputable, ABA-accredited law school• Someone who has established expertise in all areas of the consumer credit lifecycle, including originations, underwriting, licensing, money transmission, fair lending, BSA/AML, servicing, furnishing, & collections• Admitted to practice law and in good standing in at least one state bar/jurisdiction• A combination of federal government and in-house experience is preferred• A quick learner who genuinely enjoys legal analysis and collaboration in a fast-paced environment - you take your work seriously, but don’t take yourself too seriously• Experience developing creative approaches to legal challenges while providing business-focused legal advice• Inquisitive and proactive in identifying risks and proposing creative and effective solutions• Strong project management, critical thinking, creativity, and analytical skills• Someone focused on maintaining positive relationships and trust with cross-functional business partners• Passion for improving credit products and consumer experiencesBase Pay Grade - OEquity Grade - 8Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents.)USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $205,000 - $255,000USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $182,000 - $232,000Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Affirm is proud to be a remote-first company!
