Job OverviewThis job announcement will be accepting candidate submissions until 11:59 EST on Wednesday, 21 Aug 2024.The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Integrated Capabilities Directorate (RS), Architecture Division (RSA),Architecture Analysis Branch (RSAE) is seeking to fill a senior-level Data Scientist position at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. This DR-04 (GS-15 equivalent) position will utilize professional expertise of algorithms and mathematical techniques and methods to gather, analyze, and design new processes to model, interpret, and report quantitative information, trends, and relationships in support of the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management (C3BM) architecture and system engineering (ASE) division program activities, schedule, communication, and battle rhythm.Position duties include but are not limited to:• Leads projects with high visibility portfolio, unusual urgency and critical issues requiring identification of methods, processes, algorithms, tools, and systems to extract information and interpret findings from complex systems impacted by geo-political, economic, and military factors.• Expertly advises senior leaders for data-driven decision making.• Explores structured and unstructured data using various means to identify insights and trends and draw comparisons between adversary and DAF technical systems.• Demonstrates a mastery of, and skill in applying, innovative data science practices, techniques, and methodology to identify, analyze, interpret, and visualize data sets; ensures results are consistent with program objectives.• Independently conducts in-depth analysis of complex system data and disseminates the results of those analyses through reports and briefings.• Demonstrates creativity and foresight by identifying, preparing, and presenting detailed analytical reports and briefings on new concepts and technical directions impacting programs/projects, and defining future technology requirements.• Develops and maintains collaborations within and outside of AFRL.• Maintains a technical and programmatic cognizance of outside technological and research projects and programs; reports status to peers and senior technical leaders as required. Identifies and/or creates opportunities to develop cross-msn org activities to respond to warfighter needs.TeleworkYes, this position is eligible for telework opportunities; as determined by agency policyRemote Work (CONUS)No, this position is not approved for remote work.Required Qualifications• United States Citizenship• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance• Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience related to the position duties at the DR/DO-03 (GS-14 equivalent) or DR/DO-04 (GS-15 equivalent) for consideration.• This is a positive education position. Applicants must provide transcript(s).• Applicants must be able to meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standard and Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the 1560 occupational series, available at: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/1500/data-science-series-1560/• The incumbent may be subject to random drug testing.• PCS may or may not be paid.• This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical Certification in Engineering and Technical Management. Minimum experience requirement for APDP is 4 years, and the selectee will have 60 months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained. Applicants must list all completed APDP certifications on their resume.• Position is eligible for telework, but the employee must live within the commuting area of Wright-Patterson AFB.Desired Qualifications• Experience related to, or supporting, science and technology, research and development, test and evaluation, data analysis, or enterprise architecture is highly desired.• Experience distilling strategic and/or leadership guidance into actionable plans in support of program objectives.• Excellent written and oral communication skills.• An advanced academic degree in an applicable field of study from an accredited academic institution is highly desired.• When uploading documents, please utilize the naming convention listed below.
