The Community You Will Join:Client Products & Emerging TechThe Client Products & Emerging Tech team is a newly established team that builds impactful product features for Airbnb’s Guests and Hosts with new and existing technologies, as well as horizontal components such as navigation that aim to provide a cohesive user experience. The Senior Android UX Engineer joining this team will play a critical role in the end-to-end development of new product areas that leverage emerging technologies. They will collaborate closely with Design partners to rapidly ideate, prototype, develop, and ship innovative product experiences.The team is part of the Client Foundation & Products organization, which is responsible for Airbnb’s product infrastructure including Design Language System (DLS), UI frameworks, media frontend, and data access across different client platforms (Android, iOS, and Web). It plays a central role in Airbnb’s overall client strategy, contributes to libraries such as Lottie and Epoxy, and has more recently enabled Airbnb’s transition to Jetpack Compose.The Difference You Will Make:Explore, shape, and develop new product experiences alongside cross-functional partners (design and product); from ideation to implementation at scaleLead investments into new technical capabilities that push the envelope and unlock product innovationDevelop prototypes to validate ideas while proactively considering long-term implications on technical design and architectureTranslate prototypes to high quality, scalable, and maintainable production code through iterative developmentPartner with peer engineering teams to integrate new features that impact different areas within the productYour Expertise:5+ years of industry experience with a BS/Masters or 2+ years with a PhD building consumer Android applications at scale, preferably in Kotlin and Compose.You’re passionate about UI and Product development: deep knowledge of UI architecture and UI performance, with prior experience building delightful and fluid interactions, screens and graphics.Expertise in Kotlin or Java, and Jetpack. Compose UI experience is highly desired!Ability to take a thoughtful, pragmatic, and efficient approach to problem solving.Experience collaborating with product designers, especially in a remote capacityPassion to up-level yourself and those around you through curiosity and fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.Bachelors, Masters and/or Ph.D preferably in CS, or equivalent industry experience.Your Location:This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Airbnb, Inc. can be employed in states where we have registered entities. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
