The Legal, Risk & Compliance (LRC) team at Airwallex is a collaborative group of legal minds and risk management experts. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute innovative credit products on a risk controlled basis that meet the unique needs of SMBs, driving growth and performance. You will have responsibility for ensuring the effective delivery, and monitoring, of our newly launched lending portfolio. Overseeing the end-to-end credit lifecycle, this role will ensure effective portfolio management and risk mitigation while maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders. This role will also integrate advanced analytics into credit risk strategies and foster a data-driven culture to continuously refine these strategies, keeping pace with evolving industry trends and regulatory standards.
This role can be based in any of our offices with a preference in Asia.
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to create and implement diverse credit products that meet the evolving needs of SMBs in various industries.
Build and maintain relationships with balance sheet partners, investors, regulators, and other stakeholders, providing transparent communication on credit performance and risk management.
Continuously improve the company's credit risk management strategy and policies to align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Lead and mentor the credit and risk management teams, fostering a data-driven decision-making culture.
Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements that may impact our credit risk framework and lending products.
Use advanced data analytics and machine learning models to lead the credit risk assessment framework and improve decision-making and risk prediction.
We're looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.
Key Qualifications:
10+ years of relevant experience
Strong business acumen and extensive experience driving credit risk strategy and acquisition underwriting for credit cards or unsecured loans (ideally in new account originations for near-prime, new-to-credit, and thin-file segments)
Direct experience leading the credit strategy analytical life cycle, including:
Strategy formulation using advanced data analytics (e.g., decision trees)
A/B testing
P&L evaluation
Proposal presentation
Strategy implementation
Performance monitoring
Proven analytical skills leading and/or conducting sophisticated analysis using customer performance data, bureau attributes, and other third-party variables to solve business problems
Demonstrated ability to synthesize and communicate analysis insights and recommendations to business partners and senior management, and drive and/or influence business decisions
Proficiency in Excel/Spreadsheet and PowerPoint/Slides
Highly motivated, results-oriented, eager to learn, and able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
