The Earth & Environmental Sciences Area at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has an exciting opportunity for an Administrator to become an integral member of the Operations team in the office of the Associate Laboratory Director (ALD).
What You Will Do:
Assist the Office/Administrative Manager with providing administrative support to the ALD, including:
Complex calendar management
Executive travel planning and management
ALD hosted meeting and event planning
Projects assigned by the ALD or Office Manager
Serve as the primary administrative support to the Deputy of Operations, assisting with scheduling and projects as assigned
Serve as the primary administrative support to the Chief Development of Research for scheduling, travel arrangements, and projects assigned
Assist the EESA Communications Manager and the Communications team with assigned projects
Serve as a back-up to the Sr. Administrator to the EGD Director and Administrator to the CESD Director in their absence
Provide administrative support to activities of the ALD office, including the EESA Awards Committee, search committees, and other Area sponsored committees as assigned
Work collaboratively with EESA leadership, administrative managers, and staff on large projects, events, and tasks as assigned
What is Required:
BA/BS degree desired with related professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or professional experience
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work productively under pressure and tight deadlines
Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels of the organization
Ability to work effectively independently, as well as collaborate effectively with others in teams to accomplish division tasks, initiatives, and projects
Strong oral and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
Experience providing administrative and project administration support to senior management and staff
Sensitivity to diversity issues in a project environment
Proficiencies in Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and other creative tools and applications such as Canva, Mailchimp, and WordPress
Valid driver's license
Familiarity with policies, procedures, and practices in administrative areas of responsibility such as event coordination, travel arrangements, and document preparation and submission
Experience working in a scientific, technology, or research environment
An understanding of LBNL, DOE, and UC policies, procedures, and protocol

Notes:
This is a full-time, career appointment, exempt (monthly paid) from overtime pay.
This position is expected to pay $5,690.00 - $7,824.00/month, which fits within the full salary range of $5,690.00 - $9,603.00/month for the Administrator classification. Salary for this position will be commensurate with the final candidate’s qualification and experience, including skills, knowledge, relevant education, certifications, plus also aligned with the internal peer group.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule - a combination of teleworking and performing work on site at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, 1 Cyclotron Road, Berkeley, CA. Work schedules are dependent on business needs. Individuals working a hybrid schedule must reside within 150 miles of Berkeley Lab.
