We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Communication Specialist with in-house and agency experience to join Alto’s Communications team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the medical, pharmaceutical, or pharmacy industry. Public Affairs experience is a bonus. As a key member of our communications team, you will help to develop external communications strategies including media relations, thought leadership plans, award submissions, crisis communications and stakeholder relations (including patients, providers, and partners). You will also focus on our internal communications strategy and support various internal stakeholders, including Alto’s Senior Leadership Team.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans aligned with organizational goals and industry trends.
  • Create compelling and accurate content for various channels, including press releases, articles, blog posts, and social media, ensuring messaging consistency across platforms and teams.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure positive coverage and manage crisis communication effectively.
  • Facilitate effective internal communication strategies to ensure alignment and engagement across departments, disseminating critical information and updates.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, to understand their communication needs and address inquiries promptly.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the organization's brand image within the healthcare industry.
  • Plan and coordinate communication efforts for industry events, conferences, and product launches.

A Bit About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, business, advertising, English, public relations, or other applicable field of study.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in communications roles, ideally within the medical, pharmaceutical, or pharmacy sector.
  • Range of experience from legal and regulatory issues, to brand-building initiatives and partnership luanches
  • World-class verbal and written communications skills, including high comfort level as a spokesperson
  • Experience building and executing  strategic communications plans including media relations
  • Demonstrated ability to measure and analyze the impact of communication strategies using metrics and analytics.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience working with regulatory compliance in the healthcare or pharmacy industry.
  • Familiarity with emerging trends in digital and social media marketing.
  • Previous experience in internal communication strategies for large organizations.
  • Public Affairs experience is a plus. 
  • Certification in Public Relations or a related field would be a plus.

Additional Physical Job Requirements

  • Read English, comprehend, and follow simple oral and written instructions.  The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.  Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.  Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Frequent repeating motions required to operate a computer that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Sedentary work: Sitting most of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.

Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: $100,000 - $125,000*

*Salary ranges for remote candidates working outside of tier 1 markets can be subject to regionalized compensation based on their respective work location.

Commission Eligible: No

Equity Eligible: No.

Travel: Yes - Required up to 15% of the time  

Location Requirement: Employment at Alto is limited to individuals residing in the following states: Washington, California, Nevada, Colorado, Texas, and New York.
