Job Posting End Date08-12-2024Please note the job posting will close on the day before the posting end date.Job SummaryI&M is seeking a lead financial and business operations analyst with experience in corporate, managerial, regulatory accounting and proven competency defining detailed system requirements, performing complex integrations, and navigating broad dimensions to curate and manage large data sets to provide required support, ad hoc analysis and strategic recommendations.This is a highly visible position which supports and advises executive leadership, operations management, and corporate financial teams to provide in depth analysis, assessments and strategic recommendations for current and future business performance, financial forecasts, capital expenditure plans, and manage critical information necessary to support regulatory proceedings.This position also responsible to develop, lead and coach staff best practices using available technologies and techniques to deliver high-impact reports, presentations, visualizations, and dynamic dashboards used for management insight and critical decisions.SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST LIVE WITHIN 4 HOURS DRIVING DISTANCE OF THE OFFICE DUE TO BUSINESS NEEDSJob DescriptionESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:• Coordinate with operations management and corporate finance to align assumptions and schedules for periodic financial forecast system updates.• Plan and facilitate periodic operational budget updates including management assumptions, basis, guidelines, templates, cashflows, consolidation and review.• Perform monthly/quarterly variance reporting and analysis of various budget measures vs. actual results and actual vs. prior year results on a consolidated or segment level for the primary purpose of improving future forecasts, collaborate with operations affiliates to update forecasts, identify change drivers, risks and opportunities, coordinate operations reviews and update corporate finance reports.• This analysis will also aid operating companies in understanding their financial results and assist Financial Reporting in SEC reporting.• Collaborate with Regulatory and Corporate Finance peers to develop and maintain rate relief assumptions.• Lead regulatory support including base rate case forecast, testimony and filing and discovery.• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, cost savings and revenue enhancement.• Develop/manage staff where applicable and serve as an example/advisor/mentor to departmental analysts, including financial process skill development, documentation, back-up training.• Prepare and make reports to executive management and Board of Directors as assigned or required.• Support operations management performance objectives, including planning, monitoring, improving initiatives and ad hoc analysis.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education requirements are listed below:• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or engineering required.Work Experience requirement listed below:• 8 or more years of work experience in the disciplines mentioned in the education requirement.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:• Extensive coordination with corporate finance, corporate planning & budgeting, accounting/tax, commercial operations, generation and transmission, regulatory, requiring the incumbent to work across functional boundaries and operating companies.• Effective Leadership Skills• Presentation Skills• Familiarity with AEP accounting desired.• Familiarity with Regulated Utility accounting strongly preferred.A successful candidate should exhibit the following qualities/skills:• Proficient in Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, Cognos, SmartSheet, Enterprise Financial Analysis, Modeling & Reporting Software [such as. PowerBI, UI Planner, Workiva, SQL, Python, Alteryx, Tableau]• Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and comfortably with all levels of the organization.• Strategic Thinking• Relationship Building• Teamwork• Adaptability/Flexibility• Customer Focus• Planning/Organizing• MBA, CPA, CMA, CIA, PE, CFP or other professional certification preferred.Compensation DataCompensation Grade:Compensation Range:Candidates will be considered based on their qualifications and the candidate’s ability to work from an approved work location. Although the location is flexible, AEP does not have a presence in all states and localities.
