Works closely with: Membership and Marketing teams
Classification: Full-time FTE (1.0), Regular, Non-Exempt
Designation: Remote working in the Eastern Time Zone. Position involves work-related travel in the United States two times per year, including Annual Conference and Annual Staff Retreat
Salary Range: $48,000-$53,000

We’re looking for a dynamic, customer-focused Membership Associate to join our team! In this role, you’ll be responsible for driving membership sales and delivering exceptional customer service. You’ll need a natural ability to engage potential members, guide them through the decision-making process, and close deals effectively. But it doesn’t stop there—once members are on board, you’ll act as their trusted partner, ensuring they feel valued, supported, and fully engaged with our offerings.

Key Responsibilities
Membership Retention and Growth
Assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive school and individual member recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies to achieve and exceed member growth and retention goals, in collaboration with the Membership and Marketing Managers
Communicate with prospective and active members via email, phone, video conferencing, and other communication channels to provide timely support
Utilize lead development systems to capture, process, and maintain new member leads
Assist with membership mailings, handwritten notes, and videos to members
Member Service and Engagement
Serve as moderator for AMS’s online member community, encourage engagement, and identify additional resources needed
Ensure membership applications, renewals, and records are accurate and up to date, working closely with schools to complete submissions
Manage membership accounts, dues processing, refunds, and invoices for unpaid balances, in collaboration with membership services and accounting teams
Other Duties
Monitor shared inboxes and provide helpful, timely responses to external inquiries
Assist with registration and execution of the annual conference and events, focusing on the member experience, including participant registration, and generating reports and invoices
Engage in customer service and support activities across all member interactions
Undertake departmental tasks as assigned
Qualifications
2+ years experience in sales, customer experience and/or retention, with a focus on relationship-building and growth. Prior experience with a membership-based experience is preferred, but not required.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, including a pleasant, friendly, and courteous telephone manner; strong customer service skills; and proficient written communication skills
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to quickly learn about and understand the American Montessori Society and it's membership benefits to effectively support membership Growth and retention and to engage with members
Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to research, troubleshoot, document, and guide members through their AMS membership experience to positively affect customer loyalty
A self-starter with the ability to problem solve
Education or membership experience preferred, but not required
