American Express’ US AML Team, within Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC), provides support and oversight of escalated Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and AML risk matters for American Express National Bank and Travel Related Services, Inc. (US market). The team works with other CFCC partners, Enterprise Banking Services and other business units within the bank to support the company’s AML Program.

The US AML Team, manages risk associated with politically exposed persons (PEPs), high-risk customers, and persons and entities on core sanctions and risk lists through escalated screening alerts and enhanced due diligence (EDD) reviews. The team refers potentially suspicious activity and/or recommendations to terminate relationships to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) when appropriate.

The US AML Team performs a critical role in ensuring that American Express complies with all applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the USA PATRIOT Act, and OFAC sanctions.

A successful analyst on the US AML Team will:

  • Conduct time sensitive risk reviews utilizing a variety of research and investigative tools.
  • Adjudicate time sensitive, escalated sanctions alerts utilizing a variety of internal and external research.
  • Work effectively with colleagues to meet aggressive deadlines and support management objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of experience in BSA/AML and/or sanctions, compliance
  • Basic understanding of BSA/AML requirements and FFIEC guidelines as they relate to customer risk in general.
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to research, assess, interpret, resolve, and remediate escalated matters.
  • Proficiency in researching information using the internet.
  • Effective computer, communication, and people skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent time-management skills and demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
