Android Engineer

Location Details:

At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-events or offsites. Your hiring manager can share more about this role’s hybrid or remote time, others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.

This is a remote position, so you’ll be working remotely from your home. You may occasionally visit a GoDaddy office to meet with your team for events or offsites.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Alaska, Mississippi, North Dakota, or the Virgin Islands.

We are looking for a strongly driven, customer-focused Android software engineer who loves working with the latest trends in Android development such as Jetpack libraries, Constraint Layout, Navigations, and Coroutines, with a keen understanding of Android framework architectures and design patterns.

As an Android engineer, your duties will involve implementing new apps, maintaining code, and improving the quality and responsiveness of the apps. This team is responsible for building commerce apps in POS (Point of Sale) and Mobile devices, such as Register App, Terminal App, Invoices App, Help App., etc. Merchants can apply those apps to display their products, build orders, print receipts, review transaction history, send invoices for their customers, and much more.

The right individual will be self-driven and positive. This team member will be who cares about the maintainability of the code, automation, and deployment processes.

What you will do...

• Implement new commerce Android applications.
• Maintain the quality and responsiveness of applications.
• Be accountable for writing unit and integration tests.
• Perform code reviews to suggest, encourage, and support coding best practices.
• Work collaboratively with a distributed team.
• Continuously learn and share innovative ideas and technical concepts.

Your experience should include...

• Strong in computer science, object-oriented programming, and design fundamentals.
• Passion for quality, user experience, and innovative Android development.
• 3+ years of professional Android experience using Kotlin.
• 1+ years Java experience.
• Strong understanding of Android architecture using MVVM.
• Experience with Android UI principles and best practices.
• Experience in supporting different screen sizes, layout orientation, and languages.
• Experience with offline storage, threading, and notifications.
• Experience in RxJava or Coroutines.
• Experience in Android Compose.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and integration with Android applications.
• Experience with Dependencies Injection.
• Experience with unit testing and test automation principles.
• Experience with Git/GitHub.
• Understanding of software security best practices.
• Experience building software using Agile concepts and processes.
