Annual Giving Leadership Gift Officer

Serve as a member of a dynamic, results-driven team of higher education advancement professionals working to help Colorado College reach its next phase of growth. This important role will work collaboratively across the annual fund team and the major gift team to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward new and existing members of our leadership annual giving society, the 1874 Society. This will be an opportunity to be a part of reimagining the1874 society as we work to build momentum for Colorado College's 150th anniversary. This role will qualify new 1874 members and identify major gift prospects. This hybrid role will have the latitude to work closely with seasoned major gift officers with higher capacity donors to help build the major gift pipeline and have the ability to help build the 1874 society.

Anticipated Salary Range: $50,960 to $65,691 per year

Responsibilities:
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of 300+ lead annual gift prospects (alumni and families capable of making gifts of $1874 or more annually) with a focus on supporting the unrestricted funding needs of the college.
  • Conduct 13-15 visits monthly (156-165 annually) locally, nationally and virtually to meet, qualify, cultivate and solicit prospects for leadership annual gifts college wide.
  • Qualify prospects for major gift capacity and steward introductions to other development staff as appropriate to move qualified major gift prospects into the major gift pipeline.
  • Engage prospects on behalf of the college making personal calls, soliciting and closing annual gifts of $1,874 -$10,000+.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with high-level alumni, prospects and volunteers with a focus on the strategic priorities of leadership annual giving and engagement with the college.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with fundraising colleagues to ensure strategic cultivation and solicitation of prospects.
  • Work with Advancement Operations to identify and track lead annual gift prospects.



Additional Responsibilities:
o Actively support the colleges plan to be an antiracist institution by understanding, engaging with, and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in the college community.
o Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe
situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training.
o Demonstrate environmental sustainability by using college resources wisely and supporting the colleges sustainability
initiatives and innovation.
o Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree with a proven passion for social justice, higher education and socio-economic equity plus a minimum of three years of relevant experience in higher education advancement, fundraising in any field, sales, business or volunteer management. Additional requirements include a penchant for building long-term relationships while balancing goals and metrics; tenacity, grit, intellectual curiosity, optimism and perseverance; ability to motivate, inspire and communicate clearly and authentically; a commitment to high performance, excellence, teamwork AND fun; an interest in fostering a workplace couched in belonging and collaboration; extraordinary attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities with minimal supervision; 50% to 75% travel and some availability during evenings and weekends. Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license and driving record that is insurable by Colorado Colleges motor vehicle insurance carrier.

Preferred Qualifications:
Proven experience converting new donors/prospects into major donors; experience soliciting special, multi-year commitments or knowledge of planned giving; experience with fundraising in higher education; an alumna/alumnus of Colorado College; a commitment to higher education: its role in society and its importance in the lives of young people and their families; a passion for higher education advancement, social justice, antiracism, diversity, equity and inclusion; a dedication to mental health and wellness and environmental sustainability.
