Join a winning team supporting the Communications Department at Scripps Green Hospital where you will be making a difference in our patient experience as an Answering Service Attendant.

In this role, you will perform the following functions:

  • Answer calls and routine inquiries, routing to intended destination.
  • Appropriately respond to and document emergency situations, per policy and guidelines.
  • Act as a part of a team, including training new employees.
  • Page physicians, security or employees as appropriate via radio, pagers, computer, or over-head PA system.
  • Complete additional tasks such as sorting and mailing messages during downtime, delivering messages to physician offices and completing and distributing daily sheets.
  • After physician office hours, answer and document patient calls, contacting appropriate on-call physician as necessary.
  • Maintain physician on call schedules at each workstation, in on-call change book and on current monthly schedules.

This is a part-time, benefitted position with a Varied shift. This role is currently located at our Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, but may be moving to our 4S Ranch Business Services office in Rancho Bernardo within the next few months. Flexible availability is required for this position as you must be willing to cover day, evening, and night shifts, including some weekends and holidays.

Required Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • Strong customer service skills, computer skills, and ability to work in fast pace environment using repetitive hand motion with the ability to multi-task.


Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

  • Medical terminology, health care experience, and Call Center/PBX/Answering Service experience.

Position Pay Range: $19.10-$27.50/hour
