Position Summary:We are seeking an experienced US Revenue Planning and Accounting Lead to lead the company into its next stage of commercialization, including gross-to-net revenue calculations, SOX compliance and SEC reporting. This individual will manage and execute the full revenue cycle ranging from contracts to revenue recognition to reporting metrics. The role offers a mix of strategic, operational and financial responsibilities and the opportunity to collaborate with a wide array of stakeholders to help drive business success.This role will be responsible for Gross-to-Net planning and accounting across the organization’s commercial product portfolio and for future products as the pipeline matures. This role will serve as a key contact for US Leadership in FP&A, Accounting and our internal/external auditors. In addition, this role will support continuous forecast improvement efforts, contracting analysis, long range planning (LRP) and scenario planning as needed. The role will be reporting into the VP, FP&A with a strong dotted line into the VP, CAO and Controller.Key Responsibilities Include:• Performs balance sheet reconciliations for over 20 accounts related to gross to net accrual reserves• Maintains meticulous AR reconciliation between internal ERP system and 3PL AR Subledger to manage cash balance, payments and deductions to AR.• Responsible for submitting and reconciling, on a weekly basis, all receivables for Citi Group for AR factoring program to ensure accurate reporting of receivable to be sold as well as ensuring proper sweeping of all AR balances not being factored.• Maintains Internal Order and Cost center setup and support for entire organization• Own entire OTC (order to cash) process from invoicing to collections, working collaboratively with 3PL to ensure payments are received on time and AR is reflective of most accurate balance.• Work closely with Trade and Distribution to manage wholesaler inventory levels, track ordering patters and maintain a healthy DOH (days on hand) throughout the year.• In partnership with US-GVAP team and Global Forecasting, assist in the preparation of the annual budget, revised forecasts (2x/yr) and long-range planning process as needed by proving guidance on actuals as well as trends on forecasts.• Track actuals and forecast for gross and net revenue for the US business while also providing strategic/FP&A support across a wide variety of US business issues.• Assess and adhere to revenue recognition standards to ensure consistency and compliance with GAAP and other technical pronouncements (ASC-606, etc.)• Own and execute month-end revenue close process activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations and analyses and presentation of revenues and other gross-to-net adjustments.• Coordinate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits• Develop policies, create SOPS and streamline processes with an emphasis on SOX compliance to create operating efficiencies and serve as point of contact for internal and external auditors.• Support SEC disclosure requirements with respect to ASC-606 revenue-related reporting matters• Responsible for cash to order and ARO tracking working with 3PL and Trade & Distribution• Develop new or enhance existing gross to net reporting and dashboards to meet the needs of Finance and Commercial leadership• Perform retrospective analyses to measure key contract financial performance and propose recommendations for future contracting proposals.• Track all royalty related revenues and expenses per agreement(s) to ensure proper calculation, recognition and payment of said royalties.• Ensure all revenue streams (i.e., supply revenue) adhere to ASC 606 and US GAAP accounting standards.• Compile and distribute quarterly flux analysis to CAO for distribution to external auditors.• Partner with non-US entities (i.e., Canada, Germany etc..) to assist with the revenue recognition process to ensure US GAAP is followed.• Be an SME in Revenue Recognition organizationally to assist in any revenue related matters.• Perform credit risk analysis to establish and maintain proper credit limits for current portfolio of customers to ensure availability of credit is sufficient for product related purchases.Education, Registration & Certification:• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA or CMA preferred;Experience:• Minimum of 8-10 years accounting and finance experience (combination of public accounting and private pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience)Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:• Has worked with a public traded company with strong working knowledge of GAAP, SOX requirement and SEC rules and regulations with respect to revenue recognition• Accounting and Finance experience working with a Market Access strongly preferred• Distinctive quantitative, critical thinking and modeling skills• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint and strong understanding of ERP systems (SAP preferred) and Reporting Tools (Adaptive Insights preferred)• Strong oral and written communications (including PowerPoint presentations)• Attention to detail, yet proven ability to maintain an “80/20” mindset• Independent, out-of-the-box thinker with conviction of thought• Personal drive and passion to understand the businessBenefits and Perks:Apellis offers a great benefit package which includes: health insurance with full premium coverage, 401K with company match, paid time off (PTO), long- term disability insurance, life insurance and more!
