We were founded in early 2019 by Shizu Okusa, a serial entrepreneur in the wellness industry and named E&Y’s Entrepreneur of the Year 2021. After leaving an intense finance career, she became inspired to live a more balanced lifestyle and revisit her Japanese roots and passion for herbal medicine. Shizu set out to help others regain their holistic health using traditions she grew up with and ones she learned along the way.

The role:
This role will be part of our growing team, and will report into our Director of Retention. You will be tasked with owning the email & SMS marketing calendars, creating & maintaining a strategy for our loyalty program, as well as growing our subscription channel. This position will also work hand-in-hand with the broader digital team at Apothékary, ensuring customers are nurtured through our retention funnels. You will also be responsible for tracking and reporting performance metrics and expected to execute their role in a rapidly growing startup.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lifecycle marketing strategies to engage customers at various stages (onboarding, activation, retention, and re-engagement), including email, SMS, direct mail, subscription, & loyalty.
- Oversee creative process: brief copy & creative for campaigns, provide feedback & approval
- Identify key touchpoints and opportunities for customer interaction and improvement.
- Plan, execute, and optimize multi-channel marketing campaigns (email, SMS, push notifications, direct mail, etc.).
- Provides strategic support by presenting recommendations, creating and maintaining a roadmap, and driving strategic alignment across the company
- Report key metrics such as lifetime value (LTV), reorder rates, cancellation & save rates, churn rates, etc. to drive actionable insights and optimize marketing strategies
- Work with digital, creative, marketing, and operations teams to impact the customer experience across the website, fulfillment collateral, digital marketing (email, sms, paid ads, etc.) to fuel retention efforts
- Analyze and gather data about campaigns to report to cross-functional partners, and make decisions informed by metrics – particularly RFM and engagement metrics
- Implement A/B testing of content, sending times, audiences, etc. to inform data-driven best practices for campaign optimization
- Conduct cohort analysis to identify trends in customer behavior and engagement that will inform key strategies
- Manage relationships with Attentive, Klaviyo, PostPilot, Recharge, LoyaltyLion, and any other applicable external partners
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or other related field
- 5+ years of hands-on retention marketing experience in a DTC subscription e-commerce business
- A leader who is hands-on by nature and has an exceptional level of timeliness and accuracy in their work.
- Unquestionable ethics that drive leadership and behavior.
- You consider yourself an outstanding communicator, capable of engaging with all organizational levels.
