What We Are Looking For
GVEC is looking to hire a full-time Apprentice Electrician that will be responsible for assisting electricians with installing and maintaining electrical power systems. Our Apprentice Electrician will work at construction sites, factories, businesses and residences. GVEC Apprentice Electrician also works with installing Solar Arrays for photovoltaic systems.
How You’ll Help

Install lighting, electrical outlets, and circuit breakers

Thread conduit ends and connect couplings and conduit fittings using a wrench

Secure brackets to bulk heads with screws and bolts and pull wires through conduit leading to connection boxes, switch panels, and other terminals

Use tools such as conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, wire strippers, power tools

Replace old fuse boxes

Supply power for appliances

Rewire homes and businesses

Assist in whole home electrical inspections

Understanding and applying practical knowledge of different Voltages

Gaining a firm understanding of both Alternating Current and Direct Current energy

Willingness to work as an apprentice, under the direction of a Master Electrician
Experience/Skills You’ll Need

Must be able to climb ladders

Must be able to work in cramped environments

Must have transportation to and from work

Ideal candidates should work well with others and the general public and possess the desire to provide the highest quality workmanship.

Position requires a great personality, positive attitude, strong work ethic and the ability to learn quickly.

Be able to pass a Criminal History Background Check, drug and alcohol screen

Be willing to work flexible hours

High Diploma or equivalent

A valid Texas Driver License

Ability to lift items 50 pounds or greater

Willingness to work at heights greater than 25 feet
Preferred Experience/Skills

High School Electrical Shop Class or
-
One year of electrical apprenticeship
