AR/AP Supervisor

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise AR and AP staff
  • Maintain an AR billing & collection system and an AP system that properly reflects the financial activities of the company
  • Monitor policies and procedures, recommends improvements, participates in establishing and implementing major goals and objectives, and serves as a resource in addressing issues related to AR billing & collections and AP
  • Ensure that AR billing & collections activities and AP activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and company policies and procedures
  • Assign, direct, and appraise AR and AP staff

General Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Accounting Management to develop short- and long-term goals and objectives for AR billing & collections and AP
  • Ensure goals and objectives are consistent with established company-wide goals and policies are in accordance with evolving regulations and legal requirements
  • Ensure effective financial internal controls and implements new controls and/or control systems related to AR billing & collections and AP subsystems
  • Work with Accounting Management to develop, write, and update detailed internal finance policies, procedures, flowcharts, training documents, and guidelines that detail the AR billing & collections and AP processes
  • Attend and participated in meetings and/or committees as appropriate
  • Serve as a liaison between the Company and regulatory authorities
  • Ensure that the Company's professional reputation is maintained
  • Ensure appropriate levels of confidentiality regarding Company operations
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by subscribing to and reviewing professional publications, participating in professional societies, and attending educational workshops and seminars
  • Oversee hiring and succession planning for the department
  • Assess staffing requirements and fills open positions with qualified candidates
  • Trains and develops personnel
  • Ensure that training and development needs are met and provides assistance and support as needed
Requirements:

MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

***This position will be primarily telework. Candidates from the following locations would also be considered, assuming they can periodically work from SRC offices: Huntsville, AL; Charleston, SC; the DC metro area.

  • 5+ years' of AR Billing & Collections and Accounts Payable experience
  • 5+ years' of AR Billings with a Department of Defense (DOD) contractor
  • Thorough knowledge of Billing & Collections and Accounts Payable practices and procedures
  • Understanding of governmental regulations and reporting requirements
  • Solid analytical abilities and technical skills
  • Talent for Business Process Improvements and Change Management
  • Able to organize, coordinate, and direct employees and special projects
  • Excellent leadership and human relations abilities
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities
  • Ability to maximize the benefit of company software and systems
