The position consisting in the coordination/development of the Power System Planning & Study team, and and/or performing HVAC and/or HVDC planning/feasibility studies, interconnection studies, transient studies, and systems analysis investigations for clients in North America primarily, but also globally. The incumbent will also work closely with other Power Delivery departments, including the Substation Engineering, Transmission Engineering, Protection & Control Engineering, the Renewables teams, as well as with other Arcadis divisions on related system studies and power sector master plans.As the successful candidate, you will:• Support various complex power system study & planning projects and their continuous technical development.• Perform and review power systems analysis activities including load-flow, short-circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, small-signal stability analysis, reliability analysis etc.• Work with minimal supervision and help of Sr. or Lead System Study engineer.• Develop functional specifications for facility requirements related to different system development portfolios, for purposes of developing preliminary designs and obtaining estimates for the associated facilities.• Perform planning/system performance studies and transient studies for compliance with prevailing standards and criteria and good engineering practice.• Develop business with clients by applying advanced technologies, engineering concepts, and approaches to unique engineering problems.• Develop proposals and act as Project Manager.• Delivery of accurate and thorough planning, studies, system design, report summary and other client system study deliverables that will meet industry standards and specifications and meet good engineering practice with excellent constructability.• Maintaining close coordination and help other relevant Arcadis Business Units and Practices for cross selling and cross staffing opportunities.• Undertake thought leadership activities (e.g. speaker at conference, panelist, technical articles, whitepapers, etc.) and promote Arcadis’s know-how in the Power and T&D sector in the region.Role Requirements:• A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; master’s degree strongly preferred.• Minimum of 9 years of experience in power system study analysis and planning.• Must be proficient with the PSS®E software package, including load-flow, short-circuit and transient stability analysis. Experience with alternative planning software applications, including TARA, PSLF, DigSILENT, or DSA Tools, is highly desirable.• Expert and knowledgeable in PSCAD simulations with a particular focus on the detailed modeling of renewable power sources and carrying out HVAC and HVDC studies.• Must be familiar and experienced with key North American Market Operators (i.e. MISO, PJM, NE-ISO, NY-ISO, ERCOT, SSP, AESO, IESO) policies, guidelines, regulations, rules, requirements and criteria as applicable to grid interconnection, performance and planning, especially related to bulk power systems.• PE Registration is strongly recommended.Why Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best. The salary range for this position is $97,600.00 - $168,000.00.
