SUMMARY:

The Manager of Accounting Systems & Processes is a hands-on individual contributor role and manages and delivers transformational projects throughout the accounting organization.  This role ensures that work is properly allocated, planned, and completed in a timely manner to result in accurate financial statements.  Under the direction of, and in support of, Accounting department leadership, the Manager actively participates in assigned projects from issue identification and conception through successful implementation and stabilization and support. 

The Manager serves as a proactive business partner to the accounting organization, providing timely, insightful and workable solutions in support of dynamic business needs.  Responsibilities include, among others, developing and executing project plans, evaluating and implementing process improvements, along with training and enabling accounting associates. 

The Manager will have contact with senior-level management which requires strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal. The successful candidate will be organized and detail oriented, able to adhere to agreed project plan milestones and deadlines, and maintain a high degree of customer service.  The role requires a strong, ambitious and self-motivated individual who has a track record of consistently delivering in a high-performance and deadline-driven culture.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead the functional aspects of the implementation of various accounting system implementations and changes by overseeing critical tasks including but not limited to configuration, testing, data migration, integration, reporting, go-live and  post go-live activities.  Responsible for coordinating the resources on the team to achieve deadlines and deliverables.
  • Maintain close and collaborative relationships with Accounting, IT, Operations and other key stakeholders and service providers internally/externally
  • Thoroughly understand accounting-related business processes and systems to ensure delivery of desired outcomes
  • Identify and deliver on process improvement opportunities and provide recommendations after exploring applicable alternatives and achieving outcomes accepted by all parties
  • Act as a key contributor and representative of the Accounting organization in projects impacting Accounting systems/processes across the organization
  • Identify, track, report and present meaningful performance or progress metrics, both related to projects, as well as day-to-day accounting operations
  • Support the business in other ad hoc projects as required
  • Maintain and demonstrate a thorough understanding of general accounting systems, procedures, and GAAP
  • Collaborate within overall accounting department leadership and staff to support achievement of overall department goals and objectives
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures to enhance the workflow of the department
  • Prepares procedural documentation and training materials as needed
  • Provide hands-on training and development to new and existing staff as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Strong knowledge and application of accounting principles and systems
  • Skilled in system implementations/upgrades including documenting requirements and executing controls and functional testing and methodologies critical to successful system rollouts/upgrades
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects by staying on task, effectively managing competing priorities, ensuring follow-up and escalating issues as needed
  • Ability to move multiple projects forward simultaneously
  • Continuous improvement mindset: ability to operationalize improvements through others
  • Strong critical thinking and demonstrated ability for trouble shooting and issue resolution
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to build cross-functional relationships. Effective in achieving results through others.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written form, especially in developing documented procedures and training presentations
  • Highly motivated individual and self-starter who takes ownership of projects and tasks
  • Organized, analytical and detail-oriented, and self-driven
  • Hands-on, detailed-oriented
  • Working knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), IT General Controls (ITGCs) and other internal/external control or compliance requirements preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Required to work overtime as needed to meet accounting deadlines

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • 5+ years of combined professional experience in corporate accounting and auditing/assurance
  • Public company/SOX internal controls experience preferred
  • Experience with core functions in Great Plains, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or similar ERP system at a subject matter expert (SME) level
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS-Excel (look-ups, pivots, functions, macros) and proficiency with other MS Office applications (MS Word, MS Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Multi-unit, private club, hospitality or property management accounting experience is a significant plus

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and interpret retail product labeling. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to handle, or feel. The associate frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

SCHEDULE:

  • Monday through Friday, 40+ hours per week
  • Overtime as needed

WORK LOCATION:

In corporate office location Monday through Thursday, with flexibility to work remotely most Fridays currently, except during the close cycle.  Subject to change to meet business requirements.
