UI/UX Designer

We are seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer to join our programming team in Boulder. As UI/UX Designer at Ascend Analytics, you will be responsible for designing functional, aesthetically pleasing, and user-friendly interfaces and websites.Ascend Analytics is an innovative 'climate tech' software and consulting company focused on energy analytics that are transforming the electric grid to renewables. For more information, visit www.ascendanalytics.comIf you want to help shape a new future of a cleaner and more cost-effective energy supply and work with an industry-leading software company with dedicated and talented people who are passionate about our future, this could be a great fit.Responsibilities• Identify target user groups and carry out interviews or other types of inquiry to help understand user needs• Ensure the creation and implementation of customized experiences for our users• Produce high-quality solutions through flow diagrams, graphic designs, storyboards, mock-ups, and site maps• Provide guidance on the implementation of UX research techniques and testing activities to assess user behavior• Maintain a competitive edge against competitor products and industry trends• Understand product specifications and user psychology and predict what might work for bothQualifications:Required:• A BS or higher is required in User-Centered Design, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.• Confidently use React or Razor• Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers• Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps• Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs, and widgets• Build page navigation buttons and search fields• Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look• Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches, and tables)• Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders• Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)• Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback• Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors, and imagesPreferred:• Proven work experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role• Portfolio of design projects – especially complex, web-based UI designs• Knowledge of wireframe tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe XD, etc.)• Up-to-date knowledge of design software like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop• Team spirit; strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders• Good time-management skills• Interest or experience in energy, particularly renewables• Unjaded and positive attitudeCompensation ($80,000 - $120,000)Negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
