Summary
The Assistant Director of Events will sell and coordinate premium events. Assist Event Department in hiring and training. Plan all details with meeting planner and communicate these details to all department managers via event orders and weekly BEO meetings. Acts as liaison between client and The Little Nell/Sundeck/AspenX Mountain Club. Strategize profit plans for maximizing Event sales balancing profitability against promotion in order to create return clientele and sales growth. Support Director of Events in leadership decision-making and managing team functions.
The budgeted salary range for this position is $80,000-$87,500 plus commission. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience, all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions
• Service events at The Little Nell/Sundeck/AspenX Mountain Club/off-site properties
• Supervise event sales managers & administration assistants
• Coordinate conference and social groups booked by the sales department
• Obtain instructions from clients/meeting planners and coordinate with hotel departments
• Produce and issue event orders and group resumes
• Attend functions to acknowledge satisfaction and introduce banquet management
• Insure quality standards in service and presentation are maintained with the assistance of Director of Banquets
• Return phone calls promptly within given standards
• Attend weekly BEO meetings to cover event details with culinary and banquet management
• Attend weekly Sales & Event weekly department head meetings
• Conduct pre-conference meetings with in-coming group coordinators and appropriate department heads to insure final details and changes are discussed and introductions are made
• Call a post-conference with accounting and group coordinator to ensure correct billing procedures are followed
• Good communication skills with clients and staff

• Complete tasks and projects delegated by Director of Events and Director Sales & Marketing and assist other departments as business volumes and staff levels demand

• College Degree preferred
• 5 years experience as Event Manager and/or Event Sales Manager
• Luxury hotel experience preferably in a 5 Star – 5 Diamond property
Supervision Given and Received
Given: Exercises general supervision over Event team. Assigns a variety of routine tasks, sets general expectations of results expected within company’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, interviewing, planning, and assigning work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Received: Works under limited supervision of Director of Events. Receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing strategical methods to attain them. Can formulate policies but does not necessarily have final authority for approval. Review of work is not detailed and emphasizes accomplishment of broad work objectives, rather than specific assignments.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
• Ability to be on your feet, kneel and bend for extended periods of time
• Regularly work in adverse conditions and requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements as well as an office environment and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
• Must be able to lift, push or pull occasionally up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
• May work from home 1-2 per week based on business volume and demands at hotel
