Job Overview

We are currently looking for an Assembler to join our team in Holland, MI.

As an Assembler, you will:

Reference production orders, build sheets, or work orders to assemble frames and other large lounge units per engineering specifications. Responsibilities also include designing forms for chair clamps, inspecting components and performing minor repairs as necessary, ensuring Haworth quality specifications are met. Work as part of team to build completed frames or accessory items and train other members on new product introductions as needed.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Accesses electronic production systems to determine daily schedule.
● Accesses pick lists, picks all needed components. Verifies that parts received match pick tickets.
● Inspects incoming components, parts and/or previous station's assembly work, and completed product, to ensure proper fit and function of all components. Corrects or replaces unacceptable parts.
● May sub-assemble components using hand and power tools in preparation for final assembly or for customer packet/kit.
● Performs final visual and quality inspection of product/parts.
● Prepares and may package components for next manufacturing process or for shipment to customer.
● Enters order data into electronic production system, creates labels, and stages product for next operation.
● Escalates & documents production nonconformance issues.

In addition to the above, all employees are expected to:
● Meet daily production requirements.
● Respect and follow safety policies and regulations; scan the environment for things that may pose a safety risk; encourage others to utilize safe and healthy work practices.
● Follow company policies and standard work procedures. Encourage others to follow work rules. Call attention to actions that may violate policies and procedures.
● Perform quality work and inspections (per Haworth quality standards) throughout the production process.
● Flex weekly work schedule as business demands; may work more than forty hours per week, including weekends and/or holidays.
● Follow all housekeeping standards and complete daily 5S checklists/tasks.
● Cross-train and perform in other job functions as requested.
● Complete other duties as needed.

Do you have these required qualifications?

  • 8th grade education
  • New team members may be placed in this job and receive on the job training
  • The ability to work in Holland, MI without relocation assistance
  • The ability to lift items weighing up to 50lbs with assistance
  • Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship

Technical Skills and Abilities:
● Ability to use basic hand, air, cordless, and/or electric tools.
● Ability to utilize appropriate electronic production system and maintenance management system to complete job duties, along with the respective technology tools, e.g. personal computer (PC), tablet, keyboard, mouse, RF gun.
● Ability to or ability to learn to read and follow basic blueprints.
● Good color perception.
● Strong manual dexterity.

ENVIRONMENTAL/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

● Large machinery and equipment used in work areas. Possibility of cuts, scrapes or bruises.
● Moderate exposure to dust, noise, solvent, heat, paint, and lubricants. May also be exposed to glue, solvent, heat, paint, fiberglass, and denatured alcohol.
● Constant mental and visual alertness required to avoid potential serious injury to self and others in all work groups.
● Eye protection required; hearing protection may be required.
● Moves and may lift materials and/or products weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally more (assistance given with heavier objects).
● Walks, bends, twists, turns, reaches and lifts while performing functions of position.
● Standing required for extended periods.
● Work requires regular repetitive arm and hand movement.
● May be required to climb stairs and ladders.
