Assistant Director, Academic Partnerships

To provide overall leadership and direction for domestic articulation agreements and degree pathways and facilitate compliance with related university and Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) initiatives. This position supports the University’s efforts to increase transfer student recruitment and retention. Reports to designated supervisor.

Examples of Duties:


Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

Initiate, develop, and update strategic articulation and pathway agreements between Kent State University and partnering domestic institutions.

Serve as an internal and external resource on articulation agreements.

Conduct research on potential strategic transfer pathways through the utilization of resources such as IPEDS and IR databases.

Lead and coordinate multiple university system resources necessary for the development and maintenance of articulation agreements such as: The Office of Admissions, academic faculty and administrators, credit transfer operations, University Communications and Marketing, and the offices of General Council and the Provost.

Develop and facilitate collaborations between Kent State University discipline faculty and personnel and appropriate counterparts at partnering institutions in the development and maintenance of articulated pathways.

Conduct annual review of existing articulated pathways in conjunction with Kent State and partnering institution faculty to ensure current curricular alignment.

Keep abreast of proposed curricular changes; assess the potential impact of curricular changes to existing articulation agreements, and negotiate changes to pathways as needed.

Update and ensure the relevancy of articulation web page information.

Facilitate the completion of TAG and/or OT36 curriculum alignment documents by academic faculty or administrators.

Responsible for the submission of courses to Ohio Department of Higher Education for consideration for TAG, CTAG, ITAG and/or OT36 designation.

Participate in the Ohio Transfer Council (OTC) and Ohio Articulation and Transfer Network (OATN) meetings and conferences through the Ohio Department of Higher Education.

Serve on various department, division and university committees.

Minimum Qualifications:


Master’s degree in higher education administration or a relevant field; four years relevant experience.

License/Certification:


Knowledge Of:

University structure, including college/academic curricular processes *
Transfer and articulation practices and procedures in higher education *
Laws and regulations pertaining to transfer and articulation processes *
Strategic planning

Skill In:

Written, verbal and interpersonal communication *
Microsoft Office software
Organizing and assessing projects and program initiatives *

Ability To:

Work independently and as part of a team
Independently manage multiple projects and functions
Provide leadership and direction
Communicate and collaborate effectively with all components of the university (faculty, staff, and administrators) and external constituents


Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:

Experience with Articulation Agreements preferred.
