ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:


Florida College Access Network (FCAN), a statewide organization hosted by the University of South Florida System, is Florida's first collaborative network of state and local leaders, educators, and organizations committed to increasing college and career readiness, access, and success for all Florida students. FCAN's work combines research and policy analysis, public will-building and knowledge development, advocacy, statewide programmatic initiatives, and the support of local college access networks throughout Florida.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director for Communications is a member of the Florida College Access Network (FCAN) leadership team and provides direct oversight of FCAN's external communications, publications, website, video production, and messaging campaigns. The Assistant Director will be responsible for developing and executing an annual marketing and communications plan as well as other publications on behalf of FCAN. The Assistant Director will be expected to
collaborate with FCAN communications and marketing partners to achieve desired outcomes. This position reports to the Executive Director and supervises one direct report on the communications team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Produce compelling stories for FCAN and its partners.

Ensure guidelines, best practices, and communication processes are followed by the communications manager, as well as staff, and give them the support and\ expertise they might need.

Function as the video and related media technical expert capable of answering most of the questions the Team has while proposing doable solutions within budget constraints. Develop and motivate the team by creating a culture of excellence in which people feel engaged and inspired to deliver high-level results. Coordinate skills and schedule activities to meet the projects milestones and timelines.

Oversee quality and monitoring throughout the process to ensure the successful completion of projects.

Track and report on project milestones and provide status reports.

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in communications, digital media, news broadcast, multimedia journalism, marketing, or related field, with four years of experience in related positions; or a Master's degree in the fields listed above and 2 years of experience.

PREFERRED:

Professional experience in shooting, editing video and working in a deadline environment. Preferred attributes: Working knowledge of education field / education-related journalism; still photography and graphic design expertise helpful. Strong familiarity with Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, CMS Platforms, MS Windows Office, Social Media platforms and Google Analytics
