The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, under the supervision of the Director of Alumni Relations, plans and implements alumni engagement strategies that support the Murray State University Alumni Association mission.
Coordinate, execute and support as needed strategic events and activities, including, but not limited to: Homecoming; Tent City; Golden Anniversary Class and other campus-wide class reunions; Distinguished Alumni, Distinguished Professor, Top 22 Under 40 and Golden Horseshoe awards; athletics-related alumni events and other similar events which may arise.
Coordinate, execute and provide support as needed for all MSUAA membership initiatives, including print and digital marketing, membership growth, stewardship, events, data analytics and benefit management.
Coordinate Alumni Association digital outreach using platforms including, but not limited to, website, social media, electronic newsletter and email communication, using data analytics to determine approach.
Serve as an ongoing resource to all University departments, student organizations, the MSUAA board and current and future MSUAA Affinity Networks wishing to engage with alumni in support of the University.
Serve as a liaison with the Office of Development and the MSUAA Board of Governors as needed in regard to alumni participation, solicitation and event coordination.
Represent the Office of Alumni Relations and Alumni Association at events and activities as needed.
Work required evenings and weekend hours, and travel as needed related to special events and activities.
Assist with supervision of student worker staff.
Minimum Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements
Three years of experience in alumni engagement, university advancement, charitable giving, sales, public relations, or related field.
Demonstrated public speaking ability with outstanding interpersonal and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a complex organization made up of diverse individuals.
Strong organizational/planning skills and attention to detail, including experience in event planning.
Must be able to multi-task, problem-solve, meet deadlines and positively handle changing priorities.
Proven ability to establish and maintain lasting relationships on behalf of the University.
Strong technical skills, including graphic design, photography, Microsoft Office and Google products.
Demonstrated knowledge of social networking platforms and flexibility to learn future applications.
Ability to manage confidential information with discretion per University policy.
5 years of experience in one or more of the career fields listed above.
Experience using graphic design, CRM, email marketing and social media scheduling platforms.
Experience leading a team or managing employees.
