Assistant Football Coach

Job Description

The University of Indianapolis invites applications for an Assistant Football Coach for its perennially competitive football program. This is a nine-month contract position.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the head coach in the teaching and instruction of a designated skill position. Instruction of the sport includes coordination of the learning environment during practices, competitions, film study, the principles of conditioning, etc. Responsibilities also include other duties as assigned by the head coach, such as laundry. This position requires extensive early morning, late evening, and weekend hours as well as travel.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the head coach in the overall instruction of the sport of football, including instructional areas such as designated skill position techniques, position play, strategy, rules and regulations, NCAA Compliance, and health and safety factors
  • Educates prospective student-athletes about the UIndy program
  • Successfully passes the NCAA required Modules as dictated by the UIndy Compliance office
  • Performs laundry duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 1 or more years of coaching experience at the collegiate level
  • NCAA learning portal proficiency or the ability to pass within one month of hire
  • Possess a current CPR certification or the ability to obtain one upon hire
  • Clean or acceptable driving record
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with student-athletes, parents, faculty, administrators, and outside constituents
  • Candidate must comply with NCAA Compliance
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment; strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of the application of scouting, film breakdown, statistics, and study table management
  • Commitment to the philosophy of NCAA Division II level intercollegiate athletics
  • Quality writing and speaking skills are required
