Moody’s has an immediate opening for an experienced technology transactions attorney to fill a newly created position within the IP & Technology Law Group of Moody’s Legal Department. This position will be either a fully remote position in US or a hybrid position based in Charlotte, NC. The Assistant General Counsel position works with internal business clients across all segments of the Company and in all jurisdictions where Moody’s operates.
We are looking for an attorney with a solid technical background in computer science and/or engineering. Your primary focus will be drafting and negotiating a variety of technology agreements critical to Moody’s integrated risk technology platform strategy, including those relating to artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, data analytics, cloud services, IT professional services, open-source projects, App Store/marketplace and technology and strategic partnerships.
The successful candidate will serve as an Intellectual Property Law SME by (i) providing advice to senior management and product development teams with respect to new technologies, such as AI and ML, AR/VR, (ii) contributing to the development and implementation of policy and process improvements to enable the adoption of new technologies, (iii) partnering with cross-functional stakeholders across the company on strategic initiatives to advise regarding IP ownership, data usage rights, open source, fair use and marketing issues, and (iv) assisting with all phases of M&A transactions from an IP legal perspective, including due diligence, review of transaction documents, and post-closing integration tasks.
- Graduate of a top tier law school, licensed and in good standing
- Minimum BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
- 12+ years of legal experience (with significant experience drafting complex technology and IP contracts)
- Strong familiarity with digital technologies, such as Generative AI, Blockchain, and SaaS
- Prior engineering experience is a plus
- Responsive, with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to successfully interact with, and provide clear and practical guidance to business partners
- Ability to manage a high volume of work and deadlines with flexibility, while adapting to changing priorities
- Highly attentive to details, with sensitivity to awareness of risk (compliance and regulatory), controls implications and knowledgeable of corporate governance considerations

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $186,900 to $271,050, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
