Assistant Vice President, Risk and Analytics Manager

Our Los Angeles office is hiring for an experienced Assistant Vice President, Risk Analytics to join our Risk and Credit Group. The primary function of this role is to act as a Risk Manager, focusing on equities, fixed income, derivatives to support the firm’s Prime Brokerage, Capital Markets, Correspondent and Wealth Management Divisions. The Risk Manager will be responsible for monitoring client trading in muti-asset classes and create risk monitoring reports. You will need to design SQL queries and relational databases to carry out daily tasks and automate reports for the risk management department.

  • Build, monitor, distribute risk reports and margin calculations
  • Design SQL query and relational databases to carry out daily tasks and automate reports
  • Collaborate with teams to implement new models, resolve production issues and enhance existing implementation
  • Daily monitoring of client positions, activities and market movements for client margin accounts
  • Review and evaluate counterparties related to secured financing and assist in credit reviews
  • Analyze and approval of trading limit requests
  • Create and Manage risk dashboards
  • Be the system administrator and point of contact for various risk systems and tools
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned and required

Experience and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in equities, derivatives, futures and fixed income
  • 3+ years’ experience in Information Technology, preferably for a financial services firm
  • 3+ years’ experience in Data Analytics, Risk Analysis, or related role
  • Strong technical background using SQL, Python, Tableau and other system and programing skills, and ability to code
  • Understanding of client portfolios, margin leverage, brokerage operations and market & credit risk management
  • Creative, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to handle pressure to meet deadlines
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, taking ownership of work and completing tasks in timely manner, while adapting rapidly to changing work environments, priorities and organizational needs
  • Ability to identify gaps in existing processes and gain efficiency through automation.
  • Experience working with multiple teams across different time zones

Decisions regarding compensation are determined on a case-by-case basis and are dependent on a variety of factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The hiring salary range for this role is $115,000-$160,000. At Wedbush, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at, or near, the top of the range for their role. Colleagues may be eligible for additional, discretionary incentive compensation based on the colleague's and the firm's performance.
