The Role
The Assistant Video Editor/DIT will support the entire post-production operation by being the first set of eyes and hands on media after production. This role will be responsible for media management and will prepare all project assets and Premiere sequences for editorial teams and play a critical role in ensuring editors have a seamless, easy to understand, start to their projects with minimal delay, as CNE works within tight and shifting deadlines. People in this role are quick thinkers, problem solvers, team oriented, and incredibly meticulous and organized. This position will work closely with AEs, a large group of internal and external editors, production teams, and the Media Asset Management team, and report to the Supervising Editor.
What will you be doing?
DIT/collect memory cards/drives from Production teams, offload/upload media ensuring no footage is lost or corrupted, and verify data backups
Collect assets from Production teams, ensuring media is accounted for, thoroughly organized, tagged, and stored in the proper locations in a timely manner
Upon review of media, catch and flag any production errors, issues, or inconsistencies to all stakeholders and affected parties
Import and prepare all project assets into Adobe software (Premiere, After Effects, etc.)
Work with Media Asset Management team to correct and reconform problematic media codecs before assets are sent to editorial teams
Build and connect multicam sequences to project specs
Diligently organize, connect, and synchronize media in sequences ready for internal and external editorial teams to take over without questions
Annotate and label all media based on shoot/project notes, as well as using your own intuition and understanding of the shoot to organize media in the project in a concise manner to set up the editorial and graphics teams for success
Export and share sequence stringouts with project stakeholders
Ensure correct project templates are being utilized and distributed to creative teams
Source assets from brands for internal reels and organize/assist those edits
Recall old projects and media from archives when required
Coordinate with various post-production teams and perform various tasks to keep projects running smoothly and on time
Responsible for the distribution of hard drives to Production teams and updating tracking documentation
Who you are:
Minimum 3 years of post-production experience including work as an Assistant Editor, preferably with digital content
Advanced experience with Adobe Creative Suite and MAM / other post-production technologies and software
Strong commitment to thoroughness and detail as well as an aptitude for organizing and labeling media content for a Post Production facility
Must be extremely knowledgeable with technology including comprehensive understanding of media codecs, bit rates, aspect ratios, color spaces, compression, and finishing processes (color/mix prep/conform/QC/delivery)
Proficiency with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office Suite required
Proficient knowledge of the main broadcast and digital video and audio formats
Work independently and with teams, able to decipher problems and create solutions; able to complete tasks with minimal guidance if necessary
Adept at determining priorities and able to hit deadlines under pressure; ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Productivity-focused and proven to be a quick problem solver, with ability to overcome technical challenges as necessary
Communicate well and be flexible with other departments
Must always have the goal and mission of CNE in mind
Where will you be?
We encourage hybrid working but when you are in the office, this role will be primarily based in the wonderful Adelphi building with breathtaking views over the Thames and next to the hustle and bustle of The Strand. This is our London HQ and where members of our global teams sit enabling all of our award-winning content to be created.
