The Department
Our mission is to create world-class, client-centric technology solutions that drive competitive advantage, grow our global business, and deliver an investment experience that helps people get more out of life. This mission is fueled by inventive and cohesive teams, which thrive on collaboration and shared trust and demonstrate the diversity of thought. Our success is driven by our people, which is why we invest heavily in our talent, promoting continuous learning and development, offering opportunities to work with emerging technologies, and creating the space to discover.
Our high-performing, OneTech team is seeking candidates who innovate, operate effectively in an agile environment, challenges the status quo, and are driven to succeed.
Your Role
Invesco is seeking a Head of Global Direct Real Estate Technology to lead the end-to-end delivery of technology and data services for a fast growing, global, complex investment operation. You will build innovative customer solutions, collaborate with business partners, and lead a diverse team of engineers around the world.
The Head of Global Direct Real Estate Technology will lead all aspects of the company's Global Real Estate application portfolio, both vendor-based and proprietary build. This leader will be "hands-on" and expected to maintain an industry best practice technology platform at a global scale and through a combination of buy, lease, and build interfaces.
You will inspire buy-in from top to bottom. You lead teams in transformational change when necessary and provide the support and guidance others need to navigate the turbulent waters of change. You work with regional investment leaders to envision the best multi-year strategic roadmap, and then relentlessly pursue that vision through guiding execution for our business leaders. This position requires that you can identify and/or envision opportunities and trends for advancement in PropTech to grow and improve alpha generation.
You will be responsible for:
-
Assess the current state data and system architecture, align with business strategy, and develop a multi-year road map to evolve the existing environment by identifying the target state that enables sophisticated applications of data to support investment activity.
-
Pull together disparate data sources produced by the firm, held in third-party systems, and purchased from market data vendors, to build a comprehensive data architecture that optimizes the firm's valuable data assets in Snowflake and lead to improved insights.
-
Engaging with the business and internalizing strategic business imperatives to drive solutions that will bring us closer to our goals and provide us with distinct competitive advantages in our markets. Acting as an integral part of the Technology and Operations Committee in each region.
-
Identify new types and sources of data to enable business innovation and alpha generation.
-
Develop business cases for supplemental resources, FTEs or contract employees, needed to deliver new capabilities and support target state architectures.
-
Leading multi-functional, transformational programs to regularly release value to customers and business partners across a diverse portfolio of modern cloud platforms
-
Advocate scaled Agile operating models, understand the true meaning of MVP, and value speed and iteration to produce results quickly and efficiently.
-
In this global position you have outstanding global awareness and sensitivity to differing cultural and business norms. You'll have to think globally and maximize locally.
-
You have a keen eye for identifying, developing, maximizing, and/or retaining underutilized talent internally, and you can develop and implement programs that help attract top performers into the recruitment funnel.
-
Securing Invesco's best interest with vendors and third party service providers
The experience you bring:
-
Extensive experience in a leadership role with teams of over 25. Experience including leading full-time, contract, and vendor resources.
-
Previous experience in the real estate asset management industry and multinational firms. Experience across multiple asset classes (office, retail, industrial/logistics, housing) and products (direct commercial debt and equity; real estate securities) required.
-
Hands on strategic experience working with business leaders to proactively identify innovative solutions that meet business imperatives and provide competitive advantage
-
Deep understanding of the value of data, bringing it to life, and leveraging modern tools, platforms, AI, and cloud (AWS) to deliver the best experience.
-
Experience implementing, operating, and customizing vendor software packages. Experience with third-party real estate software solutions (e.g. Yardi) is critical.
-
Continuous improvement mindset, looking towards the future and disruptive technologies. Knowledge of Digital Currency and Tokenization a plus.
-
Consistent track record of strong leadership within a highly matrixed organization global team
-
Proven ability with verbal and written communications - with specific skill in creating and presenting presentations and other materials that "translate" technical information/solutions into easily understandable information
-
Experience creating and executing effective change management plans, leading others through transformational change
