ROLE SUMMARY

Alliance College-Ready Public Schools is seeking an Associate, Accounting, to support all school sites and the Home Office. The Associate, Accounting, will report directly to the Manager, Accounting and support the Accounting Team in all day-to-day accounting activities. In addition, this position works directly with schools to ensure banking and other transactions are recorded properly. As a member of the Accounting Team, the Associate, Accounting maintains accurate financial records and ensures high quality management of financial transaction data.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

All duties required to complete the accounting close, including, but not limited to:

  • Record all cash related entries in the general ledger;
  • Perform monthly bank account reconciliations;
  • Responsible for monthly bank transfers and wire payments;
  • Maintain listing of school bank transactions and coordinate collection of missing documentation through FreshDesk (the team's ticketing system);
  • Review credit card transactions and perform monthly reconciliations;
  • Maintain balance sheet schedules and reconcile to the general ledger, recording corrections as needed; and
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as requested.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 1 year of professional work experience required
  • HS Diploma or equivalent (e.g. G.E.D.)
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of accrual accounting and the principles of GAAP
  • Experience with Sage MIP / Abila Accounting Software a plus

WORK LOCATION

This position is remote and will work virtually in the greater Los Angeles area, with occasional travel to school sites. The successful candidate will be given a $400 work from home set-up allowance and receive a monthly stipend of $100.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

In alignment with our commitment to equity for our scholars, Alliance is committed to equity and transparency for our team and offers competitive salaries commensurate with experience as well as generous retirement and health benefits.

  • Compensation: Alliance provides a competitive salary. Based on relevant prior work experience, our salary range for this role is $23.28 - $34.66 per hour
  • Relocation: Individuals residing outside of the Greater Los Angeles area are eligible for a relocation bonus of $5,000 for individuals and $7,500 new staff with families/partners.
  • Health Insurance: Medical, dental, and vision plans options that are covered at 100% of monthly premiums for individual employees and at least $1,000 per month towards family medical plan premiums.
  • Retirement: Alliance Home Office employees are eligible for a retirement allowance equal to 7.5% of their regular yearly earnings.
  • Paid Leave: Regular full-time 12-month employees accrue vacation at a rate of 10 hours/month for a maximum of 180 hours in addition to 10 national holidays as well as a week for Spring Break and a week for Winter Break.
  • Professional Development: At Alliance, we believe in supporting staff growth and development. Home Office staff are allocated $500 per year for professional development expenses.
