Associate Director, Patient Advocacy

The Role:
Reporting to the Sr Director Clinical Trial Health Equity, the Associate Director, Patient Advocacy - Oncology plays a key role in the driving, building, and enhancing strategic alliances with Oncology patient organizations and their umbrella groups, as well as other community organizations. This role will work closely with study teams and will be responsible for leading opportunities to outreach to patient advocacy groups, as well as educating and supporting the internal teams of the patient’s needs throughout the clinical trial journey.

Here’s What You’ll Do:
Proactively identify opportunities and needs for advocacy engagement

Drive, build, and enhance strategic alliances with patient advocacy groups

Support and contribute global patient advocacy strategy for Oncology and passionately represent the voice of these independent patient communities to internal stakeholders

Contribute to and execute strategic and tactical plans in partnership with internal cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring alignment across teams

Assess evolving Oncology patient advocacy landscape and ensure the patient voice is incorporated into Moderna’s decision making

Contribute new ideas and approaches to help build the patient advocacy function

Advance patient advocacy organization initiatives aligned with Moderna’s objectives

Communicate and partner with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams, including medical affairs, clinical operations, regulatory, commercial, and corporate communications

Actively monitor new developments and thought leader insights in the field of patient advocacy and incorporate such developments, ideas, and strategies into the development and execution of programs

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:
Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in relevant field a plus

10+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry or non-profit advocacy organization

Significant experience in Oncology patient advocacy required

Ability to champion the voice of patients and families

Knowledge of current regulatory requirements and guidelines governing patient advocacy as it relates to clinical research

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and successfully manage multiple projects

Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently

A collaborative spirit, the ability to see another’s point of view, empathy, and the ability to identify a path forward in ambiguous situations

Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to lead and influence without authority

Ability to successfully develop and maintain strong working relationships between both cross-functional internal colleagues and external stakeholders
