Associate Newsletter Producer (Part-Time, Temporary)

Fortune is hiring a part-time associate newsletter producer who will play a crucial role in the maintenance and growth of our newsletter slate.

From aiding writers with optimization and proofreading to helping with daily production to analyzing performance data, the associate producer will play an active role in ensuring the quality and expansion of our email products. Experience and/or keen interest in media industry newsletters and business news would be a big plus.


This role is 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Location is flexible across the U.S., but most of the work will be during morning hours Eastern time.


You will:


  • Assist newsletter writers with production needs, including building, sourcing images, newsletter packaging, etc., and optimize them for maximum engagement.
  • Proof and edit newsletters prior to sending to identify and address errors related to copy, links, formatting, and ads; uphold our editorial standards in every edition.
  • Coordinate with the newsroom for breaking news and special coverage emails.
  • Curate emails with a focus on providing the most timely and relevant coverage on the issues our subscribers care about.
  • Analyze data to spot trends and opportunities in newsletter performance.
  • Assist in the expansion of Fortune’s newsletter portfolio, including launching and growing audience lists for new newsletters and special projects.


Ideally, you:


  • Have relevant experience producing high-performing newsletters, preferably in the media industry, or authentic interest in newsletters and production.
  • Have superb news judgment; can spot trends in coverage and anticipate what subscribers will want and need to know for their businesses, industries, and lives.
  • Can write and line-edit clean copy that adheres to Fortune’s standards of journalistic rigor, accuracy, and fairness.
  • Are meticulous with a keen eye for detail; have experience proofing and/or copyediting and can spot and fix copy errors quickly and efficiently.
  • Have experience using an email service provider (Iterable preferred) or similar system.
  • Are a newsletter nerd who keeps abreast of the latest developments in and impacting the media industry and looks for inspiration from other newsletters.
  • Know how to analyze email data and can create action plans based on metrics.
  • Can work quickly and juggle multiple assignments at once and can implement feedback promptly and effectively.
