Primary Purpose:
Provide support to the Payroll function in maintaining compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and contracts governing wage payments and the delivery of payroll services to Sempra Energy and its affiliates.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the on-cycle and off-cycle payroll functions with the payroll processor and within the payroll and timekeeping systems, including adjustments to earnings and deductions, periodic special payments, terminations, and retirements.
- Provide support for timekeeping-related service requests. Support clients with translation of -policy to execution of and input into the My Time timekeeping system. Provide ad-hoc timekeeping system training on an as needed basis.
- Respond to third-party inquiries of a legal and regulatory nature.
- Coordinate with the accounting functions to maintain proper general ledger reconciliation. Work closely with the accounting function to resolve reconciling items, provide support for amounts escheated, and to maintain compliance with the bank reconciliation and escheatment requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties)
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree, preferred.
Experience:
- 1 year of experience in an accounting, payroll, or timekeeping function, preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and My Time timekeeping system, preferred.
- Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
- We offer a hybrid work environment. Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.
Skills and Abilities:
- Must possess initiative, excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
Licenses and Certifications:
- FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification), preferred.
