Associate Sourcing Manager - Direct Materials

Job Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW

This role will begin with an onboarding period of working on key sourcing and supply disruption initiatives, developing and recommending supply chain solutions, and identifying opportunities for improvement to continue to provide General Mills an advantaged supply chain. When an Associate Manager level buyer role becomes available in the Direct Materials Sourcing team, the individual will move to a buying role where they will be responsible for leading all sourcing activities supporting an assigned category.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Initial Onboarding Period:

Managing sourcing strategies and projects, developing and managing supplier risk management strategies, and communicating updates to key sourcing and business leaders
Support our category strategies and execution
Enable growth and new product development through internal/external connectedness
Deliver impact by achieving cost savings objectives, executing buy strategies that advantage our business partners, and meeting/exceeding annual budget assumptions.
Lead daily execution strategies; inventory management, quality & service performance.
Deliver confidence by leading responsible category sourcing initiatives.
Supplier Relationship Management

Buyer Role:

Enable growth through internal/external connectedness
Deliver $ impact by achieving cost savings objectives, executing buy strategies that advantage our business partners, and meeting/exceeding plan assumptions.
Lead daily execution strategies; inventory management, quality & service performance.
Deliver confidence by leading responsible category sourcing initiatives.
Supplier Relationship Management
Supporting the greater Sourcing function through active leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

B.S. degree with a focus in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Economics
3-5 years Supply Chain experience, with at least 2 years direct buying experience
Strong communication skills
Ability to collaborate and influence others

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Past buying/category leadership experience preferred
Strong financial acumen
Ability to lead and execute projects independently
Previous experience working with cross functional partners (Supply Chain, Quality, R&D).
Previous experience developing and leading category strategies, development of external partner capabilities, and leading cost savings initiative

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. General Mills will not sponsor applicants for a U.S. work visa.
Relocation support will be offered to applicants within the United States.
International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.
The preferred work location for this role is Minneapolis, MN, however remote work applications will be considered.
