Job Title: Associate Technical Designer - HOKA Apparel

Reports to: Director, Product Development - Apparel

Location: Portland, Oregon
The Role
The Associate Technical Designer role is responsible for supporting the Apparel Technical Design department in many areas of Tech Design from the initial stage of the style to final approval for production. This includes but is not limited to preparing for fittings including measuring samples, working in FlexPLM system, tracking and logging samples, updating Tech Packs, taking photographs, and organizing samples. This position will support and grow in skillsets related to construction of garments, functional fit, aesthetic fit, and sizing as it pertains to the Design intention. This role interacts with Product Development, Design, and Product Line Management, and Overseas offices.

Your Impact
The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to:
  • Support and/or own assigned style workload by creating and updating technical specification packages for Men’s, Women’s, Women’s Plus, and All Gender apparel and accessories.
  • Assist with documentation of fit, sizing and construction updates throughout entire product life cycle.
  • Assist with measuring all samples to be fit and entering results into FlexPLM.
  • Organize, label, file digital assets and samples.
  • Reviews of China PD notes to fits.
  • Responsible for tracking and logging of samples.
  • Email communication with internal and cross-functional teams (US and International)
  • Assist with scheduling fittings for internal and external attendees.
  • Participate in departmental and cross-functional meetings as appropriate.
  • Assist with any follow up with China PD, and or QC team on any fit issues or concerns.
  • Clearly communicate constraints and provide options.
  • Support competitor sample reviews.
  • Support block creation work, and other special projects such as construction toolbox creation.

  • Comfortable with multitasking and handling changing priorities.
We’d love to hear from people with
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Manufacturing, Product development, Technical Design, Patternmaking, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-4 years’ work experience in a related field to include experience with fit, spec, patterns, fabrics and commenting preferred.
  • Experience working for a technical or outdoor brand is preferred.
  • Extensive computer experience including, but not limited to, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • FLEX PLM software preferred.
  • Opititex experience is a plus.
