Medical Assistant Scholar - Levine Children's Suburban Pediatric Clinic Renaissance PRN

OverviewPrimary PurposeThis is a training program to help students currently enrolled in a certified/registered medical assistant program. The teammate is a student in a recognized clinical medical assisting program who is working with Atrium Health through a Clinical Education Affiliation Agreement. The student is encouraged to work as their school schedule allows.Major ResponsibilitiesFunction under the supervision of a leader or Certified Medical Assistant and only perform tasks consistent with the phase of the defined training program. All MA Scholars can perform the duties below.Appropriate for all Medical Assistant Scholars upon hire:Perform various clerical duties typical for a Medical AssistantCheck for expired medication and products and alert appropriate leader to resultsExam room cleaning and preparing for next patient, restockingFront desk in-basket as neededSchedule appointmentsShadow clinical teammates for exposure to clinical roles/responsibilitiesMaintain compliance with HIPAAAct consistently with Atrium Health’s Culture CommitmentsOther clerical duties as assigned but not to exceed this scope of the scholar programComplete required training for this role/program, including but not limited to: Encompass Scheduling Basics ENCRC2001This role is part of a lager development program and is designed to grow in responsibilities as the teammate moves through their educational program. Teammates are intended to remain in this role for approximately 1 year before advancing to a Medical Assistant or CMA position.Minimum Job RequirementsEducationMust be currently enrolled in or accepted to a medical assistant program approved through the Clinical Education Affiliation Agreement process with a program start date within 2 months of date of hire. Teammates can remain in this position while in the final stages of the Scholar Development program. If a teammate is no longer enrolled in a medical assistant program, they must inform their leader as they may no longer be qualified for this position.Certification / LicenseNo formal experience requiredWork ExperienceNo formal work experience requiredKnowledge / Skills / AbilitiesCommunication skills (verbal and written), continuous learner.Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsWorks in patient care area, with potentially combative or self-destructive patients. Work requires walking, standing, lifting, reaching, handling of charts, supplies, equipment, blood, and body fluids. Demonstrates flexibility in changing workload.
